There's several hundred people here. The current speaker is a negotaiter from Bristol.
The students support us.
The only thing that can stop marketisation is national unity. Only we can stop the race to the bottom. Competition will destroy universities.
The current speaker is from Stand up to Racism. The race pay gap at one London uni is 30%!
International students who take solidarity are at risk. The hostile environment is a threat to all migrants. There is a petition to support one of deported Jamaicans from tower hamlets. We can sign on line.
We should come to UN anti racism day on the 21st.
XR Universities is speaking.
Neoliberalism is our common enemy. Bosses of fossil fuel companies and university leaders are both trying to unsustainably over extract resources no matter the human cost.
Come out on march 13 climate strike.
We are marching to the bankers. To where the money is. To the people who should pay but aren't.
Student debt is a lifetime tax for working class people. The student debt is hidden but its 138billion £ and rising. This is the cost of fees.
Competition between universities puts workers and students at risk. All students deserve adequate resources.
The money is there and we know where it is! Universities must be funded and free.
We've marched across London, through the financial district to the UUK.
People are chanting "no bullshit".

UCU strike / Hostile Environment
Here is the link to the petition to allow the return of the unjustly deported Tower Hamlets resident, who has lived in the UK since childhood. https://www.change.org/p/the-uk-home-secretary-bring-rayan-crawford-back-home-to-tower-hamlets
Please boost the petition. I don't know how much they help, but this guy deserves more signatures.
Deportations to Jamaica are supposed to be under legal review, but in a burst of xenophobia, the Home Office has resumed them before the judgement even comes out. This is going to be the next Windrush. People are being sent to countries they don't know where they don't know anyone, taken away form their friends, families and communities.
The current fees to apply for UK citizenship, if you're a permanent resident is more than £1300. The application process has been privatised and now requires an in-person appointment. That is rife with extra charges and hidden fees and is generally very scammy.
Many people who are eligible for citizenship don't apply because of the cost. However, the current government has been stripping away permanent residency over traffic offences.
@celesteh I had t pay it because I didn't want to be deported away from the spouse I'm a carer for. Because that shit has been happening for years.
I paid so very much money to the home office over a decade.
Some people never get permanent residency because it's so outrageously expensive, they just keep renewing shorter visas.
@celesteh One of the most expensive and precarious illustrations of the Vimes Boots theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness.
