Oh no, I missed the latest episode of the TV show that makes me feel deeply disturbed every time I watch it. #Broadchurch
@PatrickKelly LOL, no fiction... well, even more fictional fiction....
I started watching Broadchurch because of David Tenant, biut it's really heavy...
@celesteh I DO love me some Tennant. I should watch.
@celesteh strangely, today's #broadchurch is the only episode I've ever watched and thus I had no clue what was going on
@cybergazz The episodes don't stand alone well and if you miss a few minutes in the middle of one, there's often no figuring out from context... It needs a lot of attention and is fairly grim.
@celesteh Clearly we're on some cultural exchange, I follow Law & Order Special Victims when I want to depress myself :D
@celesteh What wouldn't play?
@cybergazz @celesteh
ITV3 was not playing nicely with my laptop, so I had to use Sonia's
@cybergazz @celesteh It was a caching issue!! You don't buy a new laptop because your cache gets weird!
I am starting to wonder if maybe it's time, but, I dunno. What Sonia really wants is a netbook. She has virtually nothing saved to her hard drive. She misses the lightness and portability of her old tiny computer. I'm sort of wondering if I should just get her a convertible tablet and use her laptop... I'm not sure it's rugged enough to withstand gigging, tho
@celesteh @celesteh. Yeah those little lenovos aren't as tough as the thinkpads. Think convertible tablet a bit much for Sonia, she needs to do real work. Get her a proper midrange netbook? I got my carbon x1 reconditioned on ebay for 500 quid - does she dislike the appearance of yours - it'd make more sense for her to have yours and you get an upgrade? You could keep the pink one as spare/testbed?
@cybergazz She needs to word process and look at social media.
She won't use my computer because it's 'ugly' - it's got squared off corners and is not a pastel colour.
Her mobile phone screen finally shattered today after being dropped literally hundreds of times....
@cybergazz Also, it's blue, not actually pink!
The thinkpads do have an anti-aesthetic to them, which she perceives (correctly) as intended to exclude her...
@celesteh Wordprocessing on a convertible tablet is a pain in the arse! Get her a pink notebook ;) Carbon x1 has 512 HD and i7, keep the old thinkpad as spare/testbed, watch tv on the pink Lenovo? I use the x1 for work but put all the dodgy crap for watching tv etc on something else, that way it doesn't break important stuff or run drm crap in b/g.
@cybergazz
1. it's not pink
2. The screen seems to have no correct angle for telly. Weirdly, it's fine for text on a solid background at many angles.
@celesteh ok ok it's blue :D Hmmm, that's a pain, maybe old thinkpad for telly, blue Lenovo testbed/spare, new pastel netbook and carbon x1? I'd find the thinkpad screen a bit small for telly though?
@cybergazz I've got a short-throw LED projector for telly.
I can propose we get more computers only AFTER I move my audio kit out! I'm pondering some kit upgrades (new speakers and more of them), which may also put a dent in the computer budget...
@celesteh then pastel laptop fine for telly ;)
@celesteh She doesn't have an anti-shock shell on moby?
@celesteh ooooh try saying anti-shock shell 3 times quickly :D
@cybergazz It was also 'ugly'
@celesteh The nightly news?
