After four hours of trying a bunch of programs and reading code I think I've found almost all the necessary pieces to get Renoise to support MIDI while running under FreeBSD's Linux ABI compatibility layer.
It involves Hans Selasky's alsa-seq-server and a missing ioctl mapping in the linux compat layer.
I really wish Renoise supported JACK MIDI.
So I *think* I've repaired my Deathadder mouse.
I disassembled it, breaking a plastic mounting post in the process. Then I cleaned it, replaced the USB cable, and superglued that broken post back into place (getting glue all over my fingers), then reassembled it.
The cable and left-click action are fixed. Unfortunately the scroll wheel is now super sensitive. Good enough. Time to go play Quake.
Take a break and spend seven minutes back in 1973 during this moment when Stevie Wonder and friends stopped by to perform a cookin' rendition of "Superstition" for the people in their neighborhood:

They apparently _just_ added this and opted everyone in without consent.
The inputs on the Audiobox seem to be really sensitive. There's two inputs, each with a combo jack featuring XLR (for mics) and 1/4" (for unamplified instruments).
I've patched the balanced outputs of my mixer into the 1/4" instrument inputs on the Audiobox. After a bit of experimentation with gain I get acceptable sound quality. I hope. Fingers crossed.
I'm happy to report that the latest version of the Presonus Audiobox 96 works under FreeBSD using the standard USB sound driver snd_uaudio(4). (Which it should, as it claims to be USB class-compliant in its documentation).
We'll see how long it lasts. It's built OK, but I've heard they can be flakey.
am on mini-vacation this weekend, up at a little cabin... brought only these two... trying to get better at using digitakt for more than just drums
super happy with how some of the samples are playing - - i made these using serum - they're like 5 second ramps through increasing harmonics (by ramping through wavetables) then in takt can do things like set the lfo to adjust the sample start time, and it's similar to scanning through wavetable or going through a wavefolder
dokuja is now online playing slavestate-anarchist_hillbilly_techno/CD_2/CD_2_-_Track_06_-_Ode_to_Kerouac.mp3! tune in here now: https://tilderadio.org/listen
Was cleaning up my hard drive and just had a scare, deleted a bunch of files by mistake. I lost my downloads directory. Which is bad but thankfully non-critical.
Note to self, watch your bind mounts (nullfs loopback mounts in FreeBSD) when deleting large directory trees. Particularly when clearing out old jails.
Starting with Ultima 6 Randomizer development then moving to Runes of Virtue II playthrough later ^^
I've been watching a vtuber I like play through "13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim". I have no idea what 13 Sentinels is like as a game but as an anime-inspired sci-fi story it's amazing. Love the artwork and the many plot twists. It has excellent english voice acting too. It makes me want to play more visual novels.
Oh, and that's four years straight of 60 minute mixes, one every week. 209, 52 + 52 + 53 + 52. (One of those years had 53 weeks).
I'm gonna have to start looking for guest DJs so I can take a break. Maybe I can talk Megaphysics into it.
MTT 209 / Dim Landscapes
Some slow beats to end a tough week. 95, then 75 rising to 80. Features music by DJ Shadow, Gyoza District, HKE, Jens Buchert, Legowelt, Phoenecia, and more.

I went from disliking 2-step to loving it after hearing this mix.
