@cjd has a lot of fancy utilities for it too.

But the block size is usually 4K?

That said, that can be configured, and there can be fuse filesystems and stuff with fairly arbitrary other arrangements,(including stuff like reading from mysql in the background) not sure how efficient they are.

@jasper Fuse is not that great, but there are some mega fast filesystems out there these days (e.g. ext4) and some highly flexible ones (e.g. ZFS). Have you ever used another FS which is completely hosted in kernelspace ?

@cjd looking at fstab, am using ext4, but not really shopped around for filesystems.

@cjd @jasper I tried btrfs some time ago. It wasn't too stable back then though...
