I need a self hosted file hosting / publishing software for keeping an org's documents. Accessible from the internet, should run on something small like a rpi3, preferably not PHP or java.

I am grateful for any hints.

@ckeen I just recently setup Jirafeau. Much lighter weight than many alternatives. Only really useful for sharing files. No database needed though it is php. gitlab.com/mojo42/Jirafeau

@ckeen If you want something dropbox-ish there is always syncthing. I ran it on a Raspberry Pi 2 okay. Though im not sure how well a Pi will scale as users grow. YMMV.

@satchmoz Yeah I am using syncthing myself here.

@satchmoz Thanks, that's not quite my use case though. I need a way to make meeting minutes and forms available and vaoid having them being sent around via e-mail and not synched to some mobile device :/

@orbifx That's tempting, but IIUC it does not (yet) enforce access control?

@ckeen not yet no, something is either published or not. It's something to come. What kind of use access control would you like? Can you tell me more about you case? (You can email me or come to the IRC channel if you prefer).

@orbifx I'd like to give access only to certain groups of contributors., I'll elaborate more in a few hours. good night!

@ckeen I’d build something using a wiki? I’d probably use Oddmuse since that’s the one I know best. You can lock it down and hand out an editor password; you can allow file uploads (be sure to increase the default size limit); you can run it without a web server; there are various markup alternatives you could use; tinkering probably required. Perl 5.

@kensanata I have done some hacking on oddmuse in the past for my sites. Fond memories! I will think about it. Thanks!

@ckeen @kensanata Oddmuse looks really smart, dunno how I'm only just hearing about it now.

@ryliejamesthomas @ckeen Yeah. Been the Oddmuse maintainer since ... uh ... 2003 or so? :)

@ckeen I think it is a bit out of your scope but mayan-edms.com/ is not java or php

@ckeen if you use anything else, I'm very interested, do tell me :)

@kyzh What experiences do you have with mayan edms?

@ckeen we set it up at work, had issues with ssl then then got solved. By then the business lost interest. I didnt give it a good try, only clicked around and was able to do basic stuff ok.

@kyzh Fair enough, I will write up my experiences.

docs.mayan-edms.com/en/latest/ as suggested by @kyzh looks like what I want. If something else comes to your mind keep it comming though!

@ckeen It falls on the non-PHP requirement. But #Nextcloud is quite nice with both clients and a web page, sharing etc and should work OK on an rpi. If you haven't already looked at it :)
