@kensanata @paulfree14 You know what to do, don't you :)
@kensanata @paulfree14 Host your own instance with an increased post limit...
@ckeen @paulfree14 Yeah, maybe Eugen should post on Pleroma because I heard the character limit is much higher… 😜
@ckeen I know I’m tilting at windmills, here.
@ckeen @paulfree14 @kensanata "Blogging" opens a whole new can of worms compared to the microblog format. Suddenly, people will want formatting and inline media and other things that don't fit into the narrow pane streaming display format.
In that regard, I think Gargon is right with keeping Mastodon intentionally limited.
@galaxis @paulfree14 @kensanata All true. So get a freedombone or similar system, host the long posts there and send us links....
@galaxis
from myside it's not about mastodon getting that feature or not, but that there are actully free software that is made for blogging that can be used and supported instead of venture capitalist system.
- indieweb (there are attemps to make it also federate with ActivityPub and others
- ghost
- wordpress
- hubzilla (federates with many other plattforms)

@paulfree14 @galaxis @ckeen @kensanata
There is #ActivityPub federated blogging software in the works:

@galaxis @ckeen @paulfree14 Google+ has shown how far you can go with simply supporting emphasis and strong emphasis! There are some terrific long posters on that platform.
@ckeen @kensanata Google+ is also the platform that switched to only showing the first couple of lines from long posts in the stream, and collapses long comments...
@galaxis l if the transition is fast enough (there’s my main gripe!) then I don’t mind.
@ckeen @paulfree14 move to Gopher!?
