Big day today! I am now officially a Canadian citizen!
It's hard to express how great a feeling this is for me. I have lived in Canada as a permanent resident for many years, and somehow I still felt like an outsider. Today I started really feeling more at home. Like this is it--this really is my home now. And I am so, so happy about that.
Pic of me and partner after citizenship ceremony (we both became Canadian citizens today). Eye contact. https://mastodon.social/media/80o98WFabv--c_k0E8Q
@djsundog Thanks so much! It's way, way cool. Eh! ๐
@clhendricksbc \o/ congrats :D
@staticsafe Thank you! So very wonderful. I can't remember--are you living in Canada? I get people mixed up.
@clhendricksbc yeah, I am in Toronto!
@staticsafe Ah, I thought so! I like Toronto a lot. Love visiting there!
@clhendricksbc
You look so happy! Yay!
@compostablespork I was (and am) authentically so overwhelmed happy. Glad it shows! :)
@clhendricksbc
Congrats, canuck! :)
@mwdowns Thank you! Feels lovely.
@clhendricksbc Congratulations! Your smiles make me happy.
@mirabilis Thank you! I feel that way about genuine, deep smiles too!
@clhendricksbc Congratulations Christina!
@TheDaughterOfTyr Thank you! It's a super exciting thing.
@clhendricksbc Absolutely! Time to celebrate!
@clhendricksbc Congratulations!
@mappingcat Thank you! Super happy as you can probably tell. ๐
@clhendricksbc Congratulations! It's like the start of the next chapter of your life...
Another great new Canadian another win for Canada ๐๐
Have you been inundated with congratulatory gifts of Canadian kitsch yet? If not where can we send the maple syrup, toques and red plaid onsies? ๐
@clhendricksbc That's fantastic! Congratulations. I hope to follow in your footsteps.
@clhendricksbc Huge congratulations! That picture is wonderful and really shows you both shining. Really, really lovely!
@lauraritchie Thank you! I was happy beyond words when it was all said and done. Our son was there too (already Canadian) and he was excited too. He took that pic.
@clhendricksbc Whooohooo! Congratulations!
@fgraver Thank you! It's lovely to be in a place you love and feel like you really are home there.
@clhendricksbc Congrats :)
Now you can travel the world without the stigma of a U.S passport ;-)
@dadegroot Yes, exactly! Though you have to wait three business days before you can apply for a passport (that'd be Monday I think). The reason, so far as I know, is to ensure that the computer systems have updated your status.
And I can really indeed say when traveling, and mean it, that I'm Canadian!
@clhendricksbc Congratulations!
@clhendricksbc ๐๐จ๐ฆ Congratulations!!๐จ๐ฆ๐
@paralithode Thank you so much! It feels really, really nice.
@clhendricksbc Congratulations!
@mpjgregoire Thank you! I'm very excited...
Congrats! You no longer have to pretend to like hockey. (The Hip are still required, though.)
@suetanvil Thank you! I'm not much of a hockey fan, but the Hip ... nice!
@clhendricksbc huge congrats!
@charlag Thank you! Sorry for the delayed reply...
@clhendricksbc no need to!
@charlag @clhendricksbc I'm sorry too! And well done!
@clhendricksbc @charlag (Yeah, I just wanted to get in on the Most Canadian Conversation of All Time..)
@clhendricksbc Congratulations! ๐
@burendasan Thanks so much!
@clhendricksbc Congratulations!! ๐จ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฆโ๏ธโ๏ธ
@clhendricksbc ๐จ๐ฆ Congratulations! ๐จ๐ฆ
I became a citizen at age 10 (multiples of decades ago) and would never want to live anywhere else ๐
@tjbmurph Thank you!
After living here since 2004, I agree!
@clhendricksbc
CONGRATULATIONS! ๐จ๐ฆ ๐จ๐ฆ ๐คฃ
@econproph Thank you! Super happy about this. Feel more at home here now, even though ultimately little has changed. Except Iโll have to carry two passports when traveling to US I just learned. US requires US one to enter if citizen, and same for Canada.
@clhendricksbc congratulations, eh! ๐ ๐
