@coachdrewglobal @maiyannah Indeed. It's not free, for one. Moreover, spinning up an instance takes a non-trivial level of technical aptitude. This is a significant barrier for a lot of marginalized people.
This goes back to something I said a few weeks ago about people with skill in a certain area assuming that it's easy for others to have that skill too. Which of course can lead to harmful ideas like those not gaining your skills being lazy, not wanting to, etc.
@coachdrewglobal @maiyannah I do believe that the Mastodon community and devs care about those things. But there are only so many of them, so it falls to we regular users to notice things and make suggestions.
