Corridor, flanked by collapsed roof deck on the left (sun through the cracks above make the concrete look like it's glowing); I go some interesting places from time to time.
I mean, I enjoy going out to project sites and engaging with project issues and all that. But after last week of rainy, windy, wet, and oh-dark-early, it's nice to have a roof overhead.
Today I am working indoors - inside a building with heating and everything - and that is a good thing.
This is the first time I've seen something like this:
(Suspect a few folks around here might have a suggested replacement to fill that space, too.)
I think the office "cupcakes" are, in fact, blueberry muffins (from a box) with jar frosting spread on top.
Oh, Earthlink, you silly bastards. Your system blocks and autoreplies my message to one of your customers. The site tells me the ritual steps I must perform to get unblocked, but the captcha at the bottom of your page is broken. It's not a great look.
This weekend's earworm (still going) is the dB's
It's bananas that, as far as I can tell, this is the most practical (and almost only) way of getting wired audio out via USB-C while also being able to charge. That's a total of _three_ dongles involved, and a random unneeded HDMI port.

Earwormed by Michael Nyman.
Well, it could be worse...
Our office admin solved a problem with MS Word that had been bothering me for weeks.
(And yes, you can say the problem began with 'Word' and I won't disagree.)
But yay! for admins and helpful people everywhere!

The copier in the next room is making Star Trek scanner noises. Every time someone prints something, it sounds like we're scanning for energy signatures
Trying out @Tusky for a first mobile Mastodon app...
Spent part of today at #NAIAS2018 (aka Detroit Auto Show) in my guise as a green auto journalist. It's very different from shows of the past. Struck me there were far fewer foreign journalists than in the past.
If you've ever pulled an old webpage out the Wayback Machine, or made use of their copious collections of old audio, music and film, drop by https://archive.org/ and give them a few $$ during their fundraising drive. Keep the history of the web alive!
Finally watched Chris Marker's "La Jetee," and now I really want to go and rewatch "Twelve Monkeys." (Looks like AADL has it)

For those migrating in from Twitter (aka Birdsite), https://bridge.joinmastodon.org/friends may help you find where some of your twitter peeps wound up. Using it will also register a twitter -> masto account mapping for you, making it easier for others to find you (if that's what you want).
