@jeff @Gargron my main issue with it is that there is an obvious barrier the user has put up. It shows the user really isn't all that interested in having discussions or talking to people on fedi, and would rather have us get what are essentially leftovers from Twitter.

These users thus only serve to fill the timeline with Twitter content and culture, which is disconnected from fedi culture.

something i wish i saw more people aware of is _why_ things are the way they are

i've seen a lot of people mention that quake arena is timeless, that the 'formula' quake games implement for weaponry is timeless, that you cannot improve on it

but nobody realizes why that is, it seems, and that irks me

What hurts especially is when I see feminists saying it. People who frequently do better and try harder to be empathic still think it's an insult to be consigned to a PD that takes a fuckload of work and money to overcome.
