Pinned toot

hello new friends! tell me about an obscure indie game you like. really sell it to me.

i'll start: hyperrogue is a roguelike that takes place on a "hyperbolic plane". although this might sound daunting, the game's presentation makes it easy to parse. each randomly-generated area contains some cool gimmick that takes advantage of the hyperbolic geometry in an interesting, intuitive way.

i've been listening to King Gizzard's Nonagon Infinity pretty much nonstop for the last two weeks or so. not only is it a seamless looping album, but motifs and themes from tracks *bleed over* into adjacent ones. not to mention all the cool compound time shenanigans, or the fact that the album slams even without any of these gimmicks. it's extraordinarily well put together

if you're looking for a neat little roguelite puzzler, i've been having a blast with Fidel: Dungeon Rescue. each floor of the dungeon is randomly generated, and you can't visit a floor tile you've already been to. the game slowly feeds you new enemy types and mechanics to keep things fresh.

there are also plenty of optional challenges once you've finished the game. how fast can you beat it? can you beat it as a robot? can you take a ball with you to the end?
