@jd @pzmyers I haven't taken Adams seriously for a while, and that was before I even knew his politics. He's only significant because he popularized the office-comic genre. I think the main reason Dilbert succeeded was because people identified with the theme—Adams's art skills are shit and he isn't all that funny.
I was about to compare him to Jim Davis, in that they both parlayed mediocre work into disproportionate success, but Davis actually *has* artistic talent.

@jd @pzmyers I think Davis even flat-out admitted that his primary goal for Garfield was creating a franchise. Not sure if Adams admitted that, but he did it also.
I can't blame them for this—if I had a chance at millions, I can't say I wouldn't sell out. It's more that I'm a snob who looks down on mediocre shit in general, and both strips are about as anodyne, formulaic, and kitsch-friendly as it gets.
(The fact that Adams is an apologist for Trump doesn't help.)
