At -50C I get frost on the back door. I don’t think I’ve ever seen -50C

@topher1kenobe I have as well. With the right gear it’s entirely possible.

@curtismchale @topher1kenobe I did some winter camping in my college days. Yep, perfectly doable with the right gear. 👍

@curtismchale where are you to get -50°C ? Without violating opsec. I’ve seen -25°C but not that. Wow!!!!!

@schwerdfeger central/northern BC. 700km north west of Vancouver

@curtismchale daughter in school at UBC and coldest she’s been in 4 years

@schwerdfeger I used to live in Chilliwack my friend were saying -25C down there but they thought it felt colder than the -25C they were in a few days prior skiing at Sun Peaks

@schwerdfeger We let my oldest (13) stay home from school as it took 3 hours for her to warm up Thursday and she had to figure skate Friday on the cold arena in town.

@curtismchale no outdoor rinks at these temps. Keep daughter safe and warm.

@curtismchale Dude where the heck do you live?! Gotta be Canada if I’m to guess..

@dhrystone yes Canada. Should warm up to a balmy -30 tomorrow which is normal so won’t impede anything

@curtismchale A beautiful 10°C here right now, with a top of 13 predicted. 🌵🏜

@curtismchale I’m getting my own home-grown cold here in Portland too.

Compared to California this feels like -50 lol. I lived in Spokane before and we got into negatives though

@matthewcassinelli when I was near Vancouver that was still shorts weather for me.

@curtismchale My brain can’t even comprehend that temperature. It’s 46° F (7° c) and I’m over here complaining!

@andricheli if you have the right gear it’s not that big a deal. It’s cold but you can be out in it safely. On my short dog walk my feet were not sweaty for the first time. At -30C they are sweaty

@curtismchale wow. They’re calling for 5” of snow next week in the DC area and that means schools will be closed for at least 1 day, maybe 2!

@andricheli we got 20cm on Sunday night. They don’t cancel school for snow around here. Though we have lots of snow removal equipment so we can handle it. Plus everyone has snow tires and chains
