No matter what I try, I always come back to #elementaryOS. I just can't get away from it :/
@cyndn Deepin is really neat, but the unification of eOS just makes me so happy. It leaves me to do real work I.stead of tinker with everything. Daniel Foré and co. are just great at design and it makes a perfect OS for me.
@cyndn what is Aesop?
@h4ck3r9 It's a PDF reader available in the #AppCenter.
@cyndn im getting that as soon as I get off work!
@cyndn You need some MX Linux in your life. 1/3 the RAM and custom tools as well. It's the best distro I've used so far and I went crazy for Elementary too, once upon a time. These days.. Eh. Looks pretty, but so does XFCE when themed right.
@TheOuterLinux must try the latest MX Linux, was a Mepis user for years and was always great esp the community. These days I more distro agnostic, but it's always Debian based, well apart from Solus...
@TheOuterLinux I tried MX before. The default theming and layout is a holy mess. The installer also didn't install the language packs for Firefox, something a normal installer should do. Also, installing Compiz on this thing *with window decorations* is almost impossible.
@cyndn I don't know what to tell you. Everything about it has been great for me so far. I didn't know Compiz was still a thing. Does anyone really need the 3D box workspace switcher or flaming windows? I've never needed it and I don't really care for eye candy at all. I just need a stable system with software that works with as little configuration as possible. I'm running it on a MacBook too. Also, I use Palemoon instead of Firefox. It shouldn't have to take over 1GB to watch a YouTube video.
@cyndn you and me both. The closest thing I got to breaking away for something different was when I tried KDE Neon, but I always felt like I was being called 'home' to elementary OS.
