What kind of dystopian corporate malarkey is this?
This is from Qualtrics BTW. If you don't know, it's an "experience management" company that sells analytics rebranded as magic
@cypnk Psychological warfare as a service.
@cypnk This... this must be cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came! ⚡️🧙🏼♂️
On a more serious note, this kind of subversive manipulation using data analytics really needs to be stopped hard and cold in its tracks by some serious regulation and legal consequences for those who engage in it. Unfortunately, the law is always playing catch-up with technology. I mean, the only other way I can see of stopping this is for 1 billion FB users to stop feeding it, which is not going to happen. 🤷🏻♂️
@shahaan I'm still hopeful that people will come around to the harm caused by central services like FB and the disproportionate power they wield over whole populations (and elections)
@cypnk Honestly, with the resistance I’ve personally experienced even within my family when I talk with them about quitting FB, I am not holding my breath. It’s just a different perspective, really. For them, the practical convenience and social benefits of using it far outweigh any reason to quit based on “theoretical” issues related to privacy, ethics, etc. And this is from people who I know are intelligent and who mostly understand what I’m talking about. It’s like a weed with deep roots. ☹️
@LunaDragofelis @varx @cypnk I will support this effort in whatever way I can. 🙏
@LunaDragofelis @varx @cypnk What do the users do with the points they collect?
@LunaDragofelis @varx @cypnk Hmm... Sounds interesting.
@LunaDragofelis @shahaan @cypnk Go for it!
I'm making something as well—a local-first social journaling protocol. Not exactly peer-to-peer, but it would use existing HTTP servers, and the servers would be blinded to actual user content.
The more alternatives people make, the better. We need to explore the solution space and see what works.
@cypnk That is horrifying.
@cypnk I notice that "turn employees into ambassadors" is out of thematic alignment with the other lines. I guess "proselytizers" and "cult leaders" were deemed too negative, but I'm surprised they didn't go with "evangelists".
@cypnk It reminds me of LTI, Lingua Tertii Emperii by Viktor Klemperer.

@im The parallels are uncanny in a lot of ways. I’m cautiously optimistic that there’s enough awareness of corporate harm among younger generations that this won’t end badly
