“Dekotora” or decorative trucks of Japan

This is apparently a movement in Japan, now mostly relegated to charitable events. Drivers elaborately and intricately decorate their trucks both inside and outside

@cypnk Dang, those are some swanky interiors. I guess, if you've got to spend all day driving, you might as well make your truck an enjoyable place to be...too bad, in a way, that it's now mostly a charity thing and not practiced regularly.
@ink_slinger I imagine if you spend your day looking at a gray road, it’s nice to have something else to look forward to. They do get pretty expensive. Still, at least these are around for a bit longer
@cypnk Reminds me of those elaborately decorated trucks which are popular in Pakistan and other parts of south Asia
@D_ And India and Sri Lanka (where I’m from originally 😊). That’s another reason why this really appealed to me. It felt so familiar, like coming across an old friend
@cypnk this is what I imagine when I think of Ng's van
@cypnk oh nice, its like the truck version of art cars :0
