Women and their supporters are supposed to be boycotting Twitter this weekend.

Today is a good day to invite your friends to Kitty.Town โค We are one of many instances run by women.

Free Pro Tip (tm) from me:

If you are trying to advertise Mastodon to someone who is frustrated with Twitter, start with talking about Mastodon's strengths instead of Twitter's weaknesses.

In a similar vein, if you are introducing Mastodon to someone who doesn't really do micro-blogging but has heard of Twitter, emphasise Mastodon's strengths instead of Twitter's weaknesses.

This I find is a better way to convince people.

Hey, y'all!

I am a bit sick today and thus missing some streaming time. But it is still Donation Sunday, and so it would warm my heart if you could throw some $ at the legal fund for St. Louis protesters today.

Boost if you can. Thank you!

I have been away from for quite a while, and am rather disappointed to read that the abuse is here just as much as elsewhere. I am trying to understand Mastodon (again) - is the below right?

Node admins can block any incoming messages from nodes that allow abuse.
Alas...
...if abusers use popular nodes to hide in, blocking that node would cut off some friends in that node too?

If someone on Node A abuses someone I like on Node B but I am on Node C, is there *anything* I can do?

I just tried to find specific or -only but tools like instances.social/ are no use.
Is there a way to find nodes where women (or other groups, i.e. L,G,B,T,etc.) are either in charge or at least comfortable?
(I know that @anticapitalist.party and @mastodon.xyz seem nice nodes, but that is not clear from their "About" pages which may not be inviting enough?

Forgive me masto, for I have neglected you!

#SelfCare reminder:

If you can, get up from your desk and dance around for a minute. Movement is good for you!

I just launched my mini consulting service - $55 for 55 minutes of working with me on a variety of matters. I can do diversity/inclusion training, user or content research, content editing, travel advice, brainstorming, and much more!

Check it out: creatrixtiara.com/55-55

How am I expected to get any work done when there is fluffy fox cubs gambolling about outside my window? Every time I look I melt into a puddle....

Nice problem to have, I know. But deadlines are deadlines.

But... fox cubs!

Hey, look, new OS/2 release!

theregister.co.uk/2017/05/19/n

Hilarity aside, there -are- a number of very expensive very proprietary applications in use even today that depend on MS-DOS and Win 3.1 APIs - so having a modern OS that is able to run those is a -very- good way to get these companies into a position where they can refresh old, probably fantastically expensive to maintain systems with something easier to find parts for.

I just think a lot of people suffer and die because other people weren't kind enough to help them and there is no amount of tech in the world that will save us from apathy unless tech is designed specifically with empathy in mind.
