Mrs damonism put fertilizer on the garden on the weekend and now the dog just wants to go out all the time to eat it.

One of the fun things you get to do every so often when you work in a library is to “weed” the collection – get rid of books that aren’t really pulling their weight any more. Which is fine, but never really having studied the subject matter of the section I’m weeding occasionally I’ll pick a book to go and wonder if I’m throwing out some long lauded classic of the field.

Just signed up to a two day introduction to meteorology course because I like weather.

Today I went to play the new release of No Man’s Sky, after not having really got into it the first time around, only to discover that my PS4 has been powered off due to an brief blackout so it had 9gb of updates to download. So I started a new game of Fallout 4 instead because it’s never a bad time to play Fallout 4.

@damonism Though I’m prepared to admit my sample size for this is a bit small as the last time I spent more than a few minutes in the presence of seven-year-olds was when I was once myself.

We had friends around for lunch today and they bought their seven-year-old and it seems like a good age for being smart enough to have conversations without being too aware of how uncool adults really are.

A couple of king parrots in one of our trees this morning.

Only problem with going to bed at 8.30 is I’m wide awake at 4.30am. But after this week two beers did me in and I couldn’t have stayed awake any longer.

Please don't demand content warnings from strangers. Content warnings are a sort of social contract between an author and their followers; if you are not happy with how someone chooses to use them, do not follow that person or outright mute them, or mute words.

One of the most alienating experiences on Mastodon I've observed is when someone posts about something they're passionate about or is part of their identity and the first response is "please cw that" from a complete stranger.

Thanks

I went out for dinner and the world hasn’t fixed itself in the meantime but at least I had some nice pasta.

Work sent around an email that there is going to be a flyover by a bunch of F/A-18 Hornets this afternoon, possibly concerned that we might think we were in the midst of a military coup. Which, today, wouldn’t have surprised me that much.

Me ten minutes ago: FFS how is it not even 9am yet‽

It’s going to be another long day.

Lifehacker joins the #mastodon 101 tutorial train. I skimmed it, but it seems pretty good. 👍🏻👍🏻

I’m afraid I’m going to have to devote all my attention to the birdsite tonight. I’m guessing nothing will happen tonight, but I’m not going to miss it if it does.
