So, Big Journalism has decided to adopt the Republicans' framing of their debt-ceiling extortion:
It's on Biden to solve the problem, because the Republicans are just one side of the issue and have an equally compelling argument to make, never mind that they are recklessly -- and deliberately -- on the verge of tanking the US and global economy.
Is there any hope for honest political journalism at major outlets?
Well, how are we going to sell ads if we don't level the playing field to make it a good ole fashioned horse race?
"There's a lot of good people on both sides".
Unfortunately most media, plus both likely presidential candidates, would make that statement, thus mainstreaming the most extremist fascists.
@dangillmor
There were 2 sides in WW2.
@dangillmor No. Honesty doesn't drive engagement dollars. These are for-profit media businesses in need of constant growth.
There’s no hope and I fully expect Big Journalism to steer the 2024 presidential election for the GOP like they do EVERY TIME.
Republicans know that if they spout outrageous accusations they get a ton of free press coverage, so that’s exactly what they do.
@dangillmor No. Because I accept that, the journos do not disappoint me. Anger me, yes, but not disappoint.
@dangillmor Big journalism empathizes with capital because the pedigreed star reporters went to school with the CEOs
@dangillmor nope.
The for profit ones are basically all oligarch propaganda.
The sooner everyone groks that the better.
@dangillmor When Tucker Carlson's firing is the media apocalypse apparently everyone needed in their life ...
Re: honest political journalism at major outlets
I have not seen that happening for many years.
