I feel like gargron in 2022, so many new users with an underfunded budget 😅

I'm in talks with a few people who can help with our growth, but we could really use some more donations to help lessen the burden on my out of pocket expenses.

(It costs about 15k a year to manage pixelfed, and we're going on 7 years)

@dansup which of the three options do you prefer / leaves you with the most usable cash?

@dansup Hi, have you thought about introducing paid tier on your pixelfed servers? Something along the lines of for €5/month you get higher quality uploads and supporter badge ...

@dansup Maybe you can somehow make operational costs more transparent? I always find it helpful to know how big of an impact I make with a certain donation value.

@nevarro @dansup yes! That will be interesting to learn! I think all the financials should be stated!

@dansup bad time for me to finally sign up for pixelfed, then? 😅 I've been meaning to for ages, after ten years of having my totally nonsexual female nipples banned from all the mainstream platforms as "sexually explicit nudity," even though the entire point is to normalize the sight of female nipples outside of sexual situations so that maybe, someday, we can have the exact same rights as men. But I've been leery about it both because having to write alt text for every image I post gets very tiresome (I still do it when I post to masto, but there are a lot of images I just don't post here because I don't have the energy to fight with autocorrect on my phone to write out several paragraphs of text), and because I'm so used to female nipples being categorized as nudity, and therefore as "sexual/adult content" that requires all sorts of settings on an account to be pre-enabled to even find the content that I'm too tired to bother before I even start, lol.

I understand pixelfed is instance-based like masto is, but I'm a little frustrated by your server registry page. Is there not a way to make it easier to see what the rules for each suggested instance are without having to go all the way into their individual settings? Also, are the instances only manually added to the list? If so, I bet there are a lot of instances that would be a great fit for me, I just don't know where to find them.

Sorry this turned into a rant, lol...feel free to ignore it, I'm sure you're very busy :)
