Did you know you can follow hashtags on #pixelfed?
Click a hashtag, then the follow button and you'll see them when you browse timelines.
Forgot which hashtags you follow? Go to Settings -> Relationships -> Hashtags to view all the hashtags you follow.
We have removed like counts from Discover, Hashtag and Profile pages.
Like counts on posts will be replaced with "Liked by" and the count will only be visible to the status owner in our next release. #pixelfed
Hey people new to Mastodon!
Did you know that Mastodon is part of a wider network called the Fediverse?
These (and more) are on the Fediverse too:
PixelFed - an Instagram alternative (https://pixelfed.org)
PeerTube - a YouTube alternative (https://joinpeertube.org)
WriteFreely - a blogging platform like Medium (https://writefreely.org)
Lemmy - a Reddit alternative (https://join.lemmy.ml)
You can follow Fediverse accounts from Mastodon, because Fediverse platforms talk to each other.
NGI Zero is a fund that promotes open internet standards and privacy friendly projects. You can follow them at:
Find out more or apply for funding at this website: https://nlnet.nl/ (NLnet is the non-profit foundation that runs the fund)
They have supported CryptPad, Funkwhale, Lemmy, PeerTube, PixelFed, SearX and many many others: https://nlnet.nl/project/current.html
FediDB now displays #NodeInfo info, software version and more stats if available.
More updates coming this weekend!
I am happy to reveal that a non-profit legal entity for Mastodon, Mastodon gGmbH, is in the process of being entered into the German company register.
For context, I have been operating as a sole proprietor so far.
It's been in the works for 8 months but I didn't want to announce anything until everything was finalized just in case it didn't work out. Yesterday, I paid in the starting capital.
It wouldn't be possible without the help and advice of @mellifluousbox. More to follow in blog form.
Hi I'm looking for work again
Notable experience: I wrote the Mastodon documentation and I help manage Pixelfed
Looking for documentation, technical writing, could also do Github issue triage or junior programming, project/product management
Can be either a permanent role or a temporary contract thing
Such a hopeful move for #fediverse as a playground and innovation space for humane technologists.
Just quoted it in a post to the new #SocialHub related Lemmy space I created yesterday:

Upcoming Instagram changes warn users to accept activity tracking to "Help keep Instagram free of charge" 🙄 #deleteInstagram
Talking & connecting is a basic human need, so why should we allow our online interaction to be seized by companies that (by commercial design) are after personal data? Especially for public services like national/European administration citizens deserve to connect in a way that serves them, instead of data-hungry third parties.
