Pinned toot

Gone, gone form of man...
Awake my demon, once again!

Pinned toot

More on this later, provided mastodon.social doesn't decide to try to silence me totally now. With the clear bias evidenced in the email, I wouldn't put it past them. I'll still be on Matrix under the same name in any case, and I have all of the particulars backed up, just in case ;)

Pinned toot

Something just occurred to me, and it's so simple and obvious that I don't know why I didn't think of it before. One could argue that a lot of what's going on today (esp. "liberals" vs. "conservatives") boils down to a disconnect between rational and creative thinkers. In particular, those of us who favor rationality are skeptics and demand absolute proof, whereas feelers are fine with appeal to emotion and the like. Key here is that it often takes a little of BOTH to arrive at the actual truth.

It's laudable to grant others (some) respect by default, but doing the same with trust (or worse, conflating the two) is deeply foolish. The level with which one trusts should always go hand-in-hand with one's ability to reliably predict others' actions.

It's looking like adding capsaicin to the nasal rinse regimen has brought with it an interesting side effect along the lines of euphoria, a greater sense of well being, or a vaguely similar effect to drugs like methylphenidate (Ritalin). It's not overly surprising, being as I seem to recall capsaicin having or provoking a pro-dopamine response, but what IS surprising is that it doesn't take much at all to elicit the effect. Also surprising that it doesn't burn, and that it creates a strong smell

For the record, I've been messing with this off and on for a few months and never even realized the profiles have sexual orientation fields and so forth. THAT should tell you how little I know or care about such things. I've only ever talked to two people online that I've actually met in person, so you're all just nameless, faceless, neuter, information sources and sinks to me anyway. And before anyone bitches, I'll just point out that that is actually the ULTIMATE in equal and fair treatment.

Secondly, anyone not wanting any dissent in their little echo chambers shouldn't be spamming publicly. Sharing publicly means you're open for debate. Thirdly, IF for some reason you "want to raise awareness" and actually ARE narrowminded, then it's easy enough to politely say you're not interested in talking. Finally, running to the network providers to silence someone who doesn't automatically just agree with you makes you a fascist, and THAT is why people hate you. Has nothing to do with ALs

I engaged a deliberately inflammatory post the other day since there was a legitimate, underlying issue that bore discussing, to which I only got a deprecating reply of "lol", "not bait. k thx bai", and I find a "WARNING" email today from mastodon.social about my being "deprecating to transgenders", blah, blah... First of all, people really need to do their research. I'm a member of not just one, but THREE marginalized populations myself, and even other ALs discriminate against at least one

The newest, great mystery of life: Where did all of my Android devices' internal storage space go?

I see Mastalab/Fedilab somehow manages to embed Fennec, and even when the intent system is involved ("Open in..."). It's a nice touch that shows Android apps are closer than I knew to replacing the traitorous, chromium-based webview, but it's almost as dangerous since it apparently either doesn't use a profile, or stores a bare profile somewhere weird and doesn't make use of any of the extensions that makes gecko safe enough for general use (uMatrix, NoScript, Scriptsafe, etc).

Some news sources are claiming that 34% of the US population is single. If that's actually the case, why is it that LGBTs and certain other, marginalized populations measuring only a few percent are getting preferential treatment today while open, systematic discrimination against, and ostracism of, fully a third of the population (esp. of the single male portion) is being allowed to continue, unchallenged? And why are these other groups seemingly content to hypocritically join in on it?
