PSA: you can't simply cut strings in JavaScript, because they're in UTF-16. '😉'.length == 2. Instagram got it wrong. mastodon.social/media/Jt_MBuCi

So funny watching someone complain that OpenBSD doesn't have official torrents. When pointed out that someone does have legitimate (albeit not official) torrents, the guy says "I've been fooled as the first entry is for OpenBSD **6.0 alpha**..."

OpenBSD goes through the traditional phases of development:
alpha
amd64
arm64
armv7
hppa
i386
landisk
loongson
luna88k
macppc
octeon
packages
sgi
sparc64

*facepalm*

I found a micro black hole on Earth. It wasn't created by LHC, like we thought, but by LibreOffice developers who didn't account for the fact that windows are rectangular and created a toolbar with rounded corners. Strange things are happening in the gap — sometimes it even becomes black and I'm afraid it might suck the matter inside. Please be careful. mastodon.social/media/j6ZbUZWy

oh, turns out I can turn them back on in Finder preferences (even though I didn't turn them off).

What service should I force quit to bring back the Finder sidebar stuff? mastodon.social/media/NqSCv063

I hear many misconceptions about React. React is very simple, it's conceptually a lot simpler than Vue.js or most other frameworks — it's a brilliant invention that provides just the right pieces that are needed to build complex apps with components and no more. Rare libraries/frameworks approach such simplicity. The fact that there's an ecosystem of unnecessary monstrous "solutions" doesn't make it complex.
