The @EU_Commission is proposing new 🇪🇺 #EU legislation to “prevent and combat child sexual abuse online”. What sounds highly legitimate, is in fact the draft for mass #surveillance: In order to scan private #chats for illegal content, end-to-end #encryption must be broken.
Obviously, this makes any confidential conversation impossible. How will prohibiting, say, journalists from contacting their sources prevent children from being abused?
