Long ago when I was studying music, I had lunch with one of the professors while he went over surveys children had filled out during a youth concert. One question was "What was your favorite instrument?"

Normally people write trumpet. Or drums. Or violin. Often they write 'guitar' even though there was no guitar.

This time it was 'Bassoon.'

Bassoon bassoon bassoon bassoon bassoon bassoon.

Turned out the bassoonist had put on a black cape and played the Imperial March during intermission.

Not one but two Gomez shows this weekend. A welcome respite from a sickening week.

The first color photographic process came in what was called "autochrome" which utilized potato starch as the key ingredient. Here is an autochromes from 1920 by Gustave Gain. t.co/zEDL86S9sn

This week has been utter shit, so here’s a picture of my bird, Henry, hanging out with our buns, Mr and Mrs Kitty.

I am "had to buy albums without knowing a thing about how they sounded, based on intriguing sounding write-ups in magazines" years old.

Saddened/angered by the realization that I had never heard of this amazing woman until I read this ‘restorative obituary’ in the New York Times:

Overlooked No More: Voltairine de Cleyre, America’s ‘Greatest Woman Anarchist’ — At a time of rampant income inequality, stifling social roles for women and church-mandated morality, de Cleyre rebelled

I hadn’t planned to see Johnny Marr last night, but somehow got on a list and was offered up to 4 free tickets at the last minute. Could not find a single friend who was free — people were either sick or at The National’s second Berkeley show — so I went by myself. What an unexpected treat!

Moonrise over The National tonight in Berkeley. What a band.

I’m looking for new ways to find and get excited about music and would love a invite, if any of you all can send one my way. Please?

Good morning! 🌞 May I present to you this fine table cat for ?

The bug zapper tennis rackets arrived at the office today and I can’t think of a better team building exercise than for us to execute all the fruit flies we can today before the exterminator comes to fumigate the place this weekend.
