Amazing, the IT department appears to have killed the port supplying connectivity to the electronics lab for no apparent reason.
mii-tool doesn't show any activity at all, so hopefully it's just a misplaced cable and not them intentionally shutting off our access for some stupid reason.
luckily I probably won't be the one to have to do the "but why don't you just use the wireless" conversation for the 91st time
we can't use the wireless because Raspbian doesn't have any support for WPA2 Enterprise auth without a ton of configuring, and we'd have to sign them all in on someone's personal account.
We're so tired of dealing with IT poking their noses in our business and jumping to stupid uninformed conclusions about "security" that we're planning on putting in a router with the wireless disabled to isolate our lab from their random port scans.
@diodelass speaking of the bureaucracy of your school: are y’all still required to get ipads or did that finally get revealed for the poor decision it was?
@r4v5 I don't think that's ever been a thing here, mercifully.
I can imagine it now - "you were running a switch full of weird computers that weren't Windows PCs! We won't have security liabilities like this on our wired network"
