So yeah, until I get bored, if you boost this I will tell what is almost certainly a lie about you.

Something like "@soandso sneaks into my apartment every night and draws a moustache on me" or "@thisotherguy always carries around exactly USD$2.72 is pennies and refuses to say why. We can only assume it is for sexual purposes"

"Google in particular has come close to realizing our nightmare scenario from 1998, a vertically integrated Internet controlled by a single monopoly player. Google runs its own physical network, builds phone handsets, develops a laptop and phone operating system, makes the world’s most widely-used browser, runs a private DNS system, PKI certificate authority, has photographed nearly all the public spaces in the world, and stores much of the world’s email."

"Social media have become an integral part of our lives. They are, in many cases, our primary means of social interaction. We meet new friends, keep up with old friends, plan our events, get our news, and share our lives via social media. While this is enormously convenient, it has had the effect of giving control of our digital lives to a tiny handful of companies.

Fortunately, there is another way."

Started a new levain for this evening's dough. Making standard batch, boule with cherries and assorted nuts. Mixing in 50% whole wheat flour to use up my extremely large bag of said flour before we move. 12 weeks!

Tempted to move profile to @octodon.social just because they blocked @noagendasocial.com LOL

Alas, no Parlez-vous français! (I know it's not a pre-requisite, but still...)

I'm no kind of promotionalist or marketeer or whatever but if you want to be an early builder/shaper of a positive queer social network, sign up to queer.town/ and invite your queer friends too.

(Please boost to spread the word across the fediverse)

Every first world nation other than U.S. has universal healthcare. Supposedly, the U.S. is "different."

But... is China similar to Germany? Is Israel similar to Thailand or Hong Kong or Peru?

In what way is the U.S. different from the rest of the world that makes universal health care impossible, yet possible for all these very dissimilar countries?

Today's discovery: Romance languages' "-mente/-ment", a suffix for adjectives to form adverbs (like English "-ly"), is from Latin "mens", meaning "mind":

claramente -> "with a clear mind" -> "clearly"
stupidamente -> "with a foolish mind" -> "foolishly"
