VLC for macOS Users and MIDI fans, VLC 3.0 will feature MIDI support on macOS using the AudioToolbox framework which will make it possible to play MIDI back without having to download a SoundFont first as it can use the default macOS Sound Bank. Unfortunately it does not cope well with Black MIDI but neither did the old MIDI module.

If you do not know what black MIDI is, thats probably not a concern for you and everything should work fine.

Of course in practice this is probably not very desirable due to the large size of the resulting library (it includes the go standard libraries that are required statically). And I haven't yet figured out how to generate bridging headers, so calling the VLC module C functions is a bit ugly.

I spent some time fiddling around with cgo, and turns out it's actually possible to build a VLC module using Go and cgo!

@Gargron Right now this returns "Remote account could not be resolved" which is a bit confusing, when new to mastodon.

@Gargron Would it be possible to allow the search to find users when searching something like: chaos.social/@nickfarr

I just remote-followed someone I was already following and instead of doing nothing, it seems it unfollowed that person…

It is awesome, I can write so much… So let's give you a quick update, kind of mastodon-exclusive about what I've been doing recently.
You probably do not know but I am helping developing the VLC macOS interface, so all the thing I will talk about will be in VLC as soon as 3.0 will be released.

One of the biggest new features is probably the status bar item, which someone contributed and I helped polishing it, to look nicer.
