Later on this year, it’ll be my 20th year anniversary since I started using . I am still loving it, as I get to share the daily capture the world around me & marvel at everyone else’s 😍👍🏻

But just in case it decides to go through the route of , because, you know, it can happen, I decided to create an account at .

Incidentally, this is just too funny. I am starting to think I may have a secret fan within the Flickr team, because once or twice a month one of my snap shots gets featured in Explore and I haven't figured out just yet the pattern of when / why it happens. It just does ...

So, to that “secret admirer” within the Flickr team, thank you, thank you, thank you !!! 🙏🏻🤩

FlickrA moment of calm to start the weekBy elsua

And you know what's even more hilarious? I have got 5 followers in my account and I get a whole lot more traction / 'engagement' than in with 3k contacts in there posting multiple times per week.

What does that say about the process LI is currently going through that most people just can't see it? 😱

Yeah, I know,

@michaelrowe01 Thanks a bunch, Michael! 🙏🏻 An opportunity to re-claim my own sanity in the midst of everything that's going on! 😱

@elsua I like and use Flickr since more than a decade, still have not found a way how this “Social” works there. The simple “I like yours, you like mine/I follow you, you follow me” would work, but hey…

@haraldschirmer I can certainly relate to that experience as well with Flickr, Harald. I usually avoid it. However, there are plenty of genuine folks willing to converse about their passion for photography (As opposed to the fake engagement) and those are the kind of interactions and relationships I treasure.

How often do you usually spend there and also what's the frequency & number of pictures you share across with your contacts?

@elsua I share, when I have something to share. I do not follow any „sharing time/frequency“ dogma.
I am questioning the „why share“ more and more, as there is enough stuff nowadays and the promise of relationships (as in the early days) is no longer happening.
The changed algorithms on other platforms or the lack of „history“ here prohibits connection to existing friends and building new ones based on content, expressed values or curiosity… I can not see happening

@haraldschirmer Hummm ... are you talking about Flickr or Mastodon? I am confused now 🥴

Frankly, for all of the I still use on a daily basis that don't rely on an obnoxious algorithm it's working for me in the exact same way you describe above, which is why I'm confused.

Yes, I know and realise most of our/my friends aren't in those other algo-free platforms, but then again there is an opportunity to nurture new ones while we await for them to show up, don't you think?

@elsua we were talking about flickr in this thread ;-)

@haraldschirmer LOL! Got it, thanks! Funny enough, I wasn't following ya on Flickr, so fixed that 😉 heh

@simondueckert @haraldschirmer Thanks a bunch, Simon, for sharing those links. Looking into them as we speak ... 😅👍🏻

@elsua I don't know if this is new or I somehow missed it, but what's with the short videos in LinkedIn, they looked plugged in there from YouTube shorts. It's totally off topic to LinkedIn as far as I'm concerned.

@AAae I guess it's LI's own (failed) attempt at , pretending to be part of the kool kids club when it's utterly cringe 😱
