I'm dabbling in speculative fiction: what if the Western half of the USA became an anarcho-communist society after the Haymarket affair in 1886?
Should I continue this story?
@emerican Oh, relatedly, this is a fantastic article by @garbados about speculative and visionary fiction, especially in regards to the star trek DS9 episode "Far Beyond the Stars": https://garbados.github.io/my-blog/far-beyond-the-stars.html
@StarshipAmelia @garbados Awesome! Checking it out now!
@emerican i smell steampunk startrek
@OmnaBrain Yeah I'll probably go back and forth on the timeline so it will be everything from steampunk to cyberpunk and everything in between (which, I guess, is just regular ol' punk? lol)
@emerican
yes please write more of this. we need to have better ideas of what our best case is, a vision we can show people and inspire ourselves with.
@acetone_kitten Should have a new, longer chapter up some time this week :D Thanks for the encouragement!
Any chance to involve a hero previously affected by

finally abolished in that same year?
Would love to read that one!
@Troim Oooh that would be fascinating. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what happened to Cuba, Vietnam, North Korea, etc. I'm guessing some would have gone ML but some would have gone AnCom, kind of need to castigate on how that all would have shaken out. Any thoughts?
@emerican I'd say yes! Speculative fiction is very important imo!
