I remember on a very early episode of @memhaz we talked about the gas and coal power stations you see on the train up north, many of which are still there, but more noticeable now are all the renewables; wind turbines and solar farms. It’s really heartening to see!

questions to which the answer is: hell yea

was listening to the ns podcast (bc I hate myself and can’t get enough stephen bush content) and heard helen lewis say “I read a really good piece on slate star codex” and then everything went dark, and now I’m covered in blood and everyone on this train is dead???

chapo issued a correction on this, I am appeased

i haven't watched doctor who since 2006. do they still do that thing where every episode has some silly phrase hidden in it, like "spooky leg" or "ass toast", and in the two-part finale you find out the bad guys are aliens called "spookilegs" or "asztostes"

twist, it turns out it actually is jordan peterson

reading up on the "Brighton and Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway", a train which ran along the beach (submerged at high tide) on massive fuckin stilts between 1896 and 1901

i have so many questions. how did it work. why didnt it fall over. why why was the inventor's first thought not "pulled along by cables" but instead "fucking electric train!!!". why the fuck didnt they rebuild this instead of the i360
