Datatilsynet holder seminar i forbindelse med Personverndagen 2022. Kan anbefale personvernsinteresserte å få med seg live-sendingen :)

Of course Elsevier's "enhanced pdf viewer" tracks where you click, view, if you hide the page, etc. and then transmits a big base64 blob of events along with ID from University proxy when you leave. I'm sure straight to SciVal for sale.
Is this the way we want science to work?

One of the best articles I've read so far on FB's : "Facebook can claim originality in at least one thing. Its combination of scale and irresponsibility has unleashed a set of diverse and fascinating sociopolitical challenges that it will take lawmakers, scholars, and activists at least a generation to fix."

I am deleting my Facebook-account this month, and I want to publish a post for my FB-friends to explain why, and link to some resources that present a more detailed view of all the different problematic aspects of Facebook (ideally one webpage that summarizes the issues of data collection, surveillance capitalism, mental health etc). The Wikipedia-page "Criticism of Facebook" is so far the most complete collection I have found, but are there anyone here that have any other good suggestions?

In a huge victory for human rights, the European Parliament calls for a ban on biometric mass surveillance and facial recognition. 😀🥳 Let's keep fighting for privacy! 💪

We're up against the adtech giant.
Intentionally small, profitable, sustainable.
No investors, outside funding, debt.
4,450 subscribers, $37,592 MRR, $0 advertising budget.
Anything is possible.

The 8-hour workday is too profitable for big business, not because of the amount of work people get done in eight hours (less than three hours of actual work done in 8 hours) but because it makes for such a purchase-happy public. Keeping free time scarce means people pay a lot more for convenience, gratification, and any other relief they can buy. It keeps them watching television, and its commercials. It keeps them unambitious outside of work.

Har noen prøvd self hosting på mobil? Da mener jeg altså fra en mobiltelefon, og på et mobilt nettverk. Vet det finnes server-programvare for Android, men er det mulig å åpne porter osv for mobilnettet?

what my girlfriend thought dating a software engineer would be like: "honey, I got an AI robot maid to do all our cooking for us"

what dating a software engineer is actually like: "if that microwave connects to the internet we're heating all our food with a blowtorch from now on"

The Norwegian consumer council has published a new report where they suggest a ban on the surveillance based revenue model dominating the web today.

I promise that there's no intimidating physics equations, and mostly friendly graphs and figures :)

Yesterday I presented and defended my master thesis in “Computational Science: Physics” at the Physics Department at the University of Oslo. The title of my thesis is "Deep learning to estimate power output from breathing."

I have tried to condense my work into a short blog post. If you're interested in deep learning and/or sports science, it might be an interesting read.

Inspirert av @erikjohannes banka jeg til med en liten #skotest selv idag:
For spesielt interesserte, men fryktelig fine sko da.
