I have an ancestor whose sister married a log driver in the mid-1800s, and basically he'd go off on the log drive for months and when he got back, she'd end up pregnant. Then he'd be off again, and she'd send the kids out of the house while she had her baby alone in the kitchen. Isabella had at least eleven kids! So whenever I hear "Log Driver's Waltz" I'm like nooo girrrrllll.
