I've run out of purple thread, so the Fern Leaf doily is stuffed in its project bag until I can get to the craft store again. In the meantime, I'm back on my Halloween bullshit and got out the black thread to start the Crown of Skulls Doily by Ann Wanamaker. This one's going to be a beast - the pattern says 24"-27" made with size 10 thread. ravelry.com/patterns/library/c

@erinbee looks like a prop from ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ 😉

@Boudicca Watch out when there are wine glasses around!

Round 12/34 of the Crown of Skulls doily. Being about half chain stitches makes this portion quick work.

Minor annoyance: Aunt Lydia's isn't the greatest thread, but this is unusually stiff probably due to the dyeing process. Black lace doesn't have the greatest stitch definition anyway, but at times it's like I'm just poking my hook into a bumpy tangle. I can tell that once it's been washed and blocked it'll be softer and far more open, so that's something to keep in mind.

Part way through round 17/34 of Crown of Skulls, the halfway point of the written pattern. The designer must work a lot more loosely than I do, because this is maybe 10 inches across when I stretch it.
