Just published a blog post about scripting the GNU Image Manipulation Program.
I would imagine it should also work with Glimpse, but I have been lazy and haven't installed it yet (!).
There’s been a couple of other forks over the years, Cinepaint comes to mind, and Filmgimp. They haven’t been able to keep up with upstream either.
@Sandra Yeah, I think they tried to convince upstream to change the name, and when they gave up they forked it.

TIL that someone did fork it because of the name! Wow! I can’t argue with that♥♥♥ And what a great new name, Glimpse! But too bad if the community gets fragmented. I would’ve wished upstream would’ve just changed the name
