@estebanm yeah, if the polish vote counting software was open-source, the whole situation of "yeah, no, we're not hiring you anymore, we'll find someone cheaper to write this from scratch... o shit this new software DDoS'es itself... well, manual vote counting it is" wouldn't happen.

@Wolf480pl have you read about the Norwegian voting system? An ex-colleague of mine had a birdsite thread with all the issues she knew about... it was really embarrassing. That's why they ended up requiring manual recounting. The thread was in Norwegian, though, but involved old machines with unpatched Windows versions, running some proprietary software from a Chinese vendor. Just terrible.

@estebanm well, compared to that, a written-by-an-intern .NET client software for local voting commissions that won't print the report until it has successfully submitted the results to the server... sounds benign.
