@fabionatali OMG thats gross. There should be no place for antisemitism in the free software movement. Israel is NOT an apartheit state, BDS is an antisemitic movement. Dont support or spread their hate against jews and israel.
Israel has many injustices. But it is not an apartheid state: https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/may/22/israel-injustices-not-apartheid-state
@mischk shame on you, always the same word (antisemitism) when we talk about REALITY in Israel / Palestine... the political action of that STATE is apartheid, period.
Peace for all, rights for all, equity for all. Until that, boycott is one of the strongest non-violent weapon. And I’m not antisemit. I respect everyone.
@fabionatali @kawaiipunk I think this is not really helpful and I see no arguments besides "Israel is evil". How does the boycott of #debconf help any Palestiniens? Wouldn't it be one of the only possibilities for palestinien Techies to take part in such a conference? Couldn't the conference be a opportunity to give the palestinien tech-community a plattform?
Concerning a lefty critic of BDS see e.g.: https://www.thedailybeast.com/a-leftists-critique-of-bds
@hng @fabionatali @kawaiipunk Boycott is sometimes strange.. but when the idea is to put pression on a government, FULL boycott is necessary. Culture, art, open-source convention, etc, are used today to serve the idea that Israel is a normal democratic state... but it’s not. We will go in Israel, buy Israel products, when this state will be respectful of the Palestinians.
