a better way to build cities:
no crosswalks. vehicles need to be elsewhere, not on the surface. the surface is for pedestrians.

99% invisible recently did a two-part podcast on a "city" that did this. TL;DR: it sounds really good on paper but had some unforeseen downsides.
There were more and bigger reasons for the failure however, that were unrelated to the street design. Poor external choices that created a lot of vacancies and drove a lot of drug users into the open public spaces. Really worth a listen!
