Hi Masto mates, I'm moving to @fortescue. Please follow me over there. I'm importaing all my follower lists and whatnot there now, so forgive me for the follow spam.
Currently on a bit of a Pink Floyd run. Those three albums from the mid 70s - Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and particularly Animals - are just magic. IMO goes downhill significantly after that (potentially unpopular opinion - The Wall is pretty much trash).
I think after this I might go for some DJ Shadow.
The lesson from the ruins of Notre Dame: don’t rely on billionaires
Okay, I've tried everything else, let's see what happens here. I'm a 56yo IT professional currently facing age discrimination in the job market. My skills are proven and broad. I can do operations, project management, service delivery; am versed in multiple OSs, monitoring systems, ticketing platforms. I'm a technical writer and published author. I'm willing to relocate pretty much anywhere for a job that pays enough to cover my mortgage. I need employment by Sept 30. CV on request. #job #dayjob
Decided to see what would happen if I trained a neural net to write names for self-aware AIs.
May I present: GPT-2 trained on AI names from Iain M. Banks's Culture novels
@JPEG Does Mast keep your place in the stream when loading new toots? Amaroq (the client I’m currently using) kinda does, but only if it’s not cold-launching, and only if there isn’t a gap between the root you’re on and the roots that load in the first refresh. I want a client that unconditionally maintains your position.
I really like your stand against Gab, so I’m probably going to buy anyway, but it would be nice to know :)
A nice writeup of the strangeness going on with Mastodon and Gab that was very informative, at least for me. It's disheartening, to say the least, that this schism is happening. https://www.theverge.com/platform/amp/2019/7/12/20691957/mastodon-decentralized-social-network-gab-migration-fediverse-app-blocking
Braving the weather to go for a walk with the kids. Shops + Library. Fingers crossed we don’t get too wet. #adelaide

Read this you muppets: 'Reasons to be Cheerful' (William Davies in the LRB).
'When we say that someone is ‘good with words’, we don’t mean they are reliable in how they relate them to things and deeds...'
Manager, Process Navigator, Sysadmin, Programmer, Bit Wrangler. Husband + Father. Bit of a politics nerd. #Adelaide. Prone to profanity.
