"The literal president of the Chicago Police Board β€” the independent civilian body that decides Chicago Police disciplinary cases β€” alleges Chicago Police officers struck him with a baton five times at a protest Sunday."

How. HOW can you possibly engage in this little thought. How can you look at a police station captured and burned to the ground and say "yup, there will never be consequences for LITERALLY beating the PERSON IN CHARGE of preventing the thing we are doing *right the fuck now* and which this mass of people are specifically protesting"?

I am genuinely having trouble modelling the thought processes that led to this, & don't tell me there arent any. They're still H. sap.

@fox_news The cops are used to being protected by the government no matter what they do.

re: blm rebellions 2020, chicago

@LexYeen I mean, yeah, but how can you not look at continuous 84-hour weeks forced on the NYPD, police abolition etc in MNPLS, and the NG forced out of DC hotels and think

"Yeah, she'll be right."

re: blm rebellions 2020, chicago

@LexYeen There is *no way*, I *adamantly refuse* to model ANY mass of people with that much power as that stupid.

re: blm rebellions 2020, chicago

@fox_news They're not stupid. They're overconfident.

re: blm rebellions 2020, chicago

@LexYeen "May the gods see fit to grant me some day the sheer unearned self-worth and overconfidence of straight white cis men" turned out to be too much.

"May the gods see fit to grant me some day one tenth of the sheer self-worth and overconfidence of straight white cis men" is, as it turns out, also too much.

Let's just go with "May the gods see fit to grant me some day slightly more than the appropriate amount of unearned self-worth and overconfidence."
