I find it darkly humorous that even though what America is and what the cops are has changed over the last couple of decades, the US is still the world's police: violent, heavy-handed, destructive, paranoid, performatively power-projecting, unaccountable to anyone else, and with constantly increasingly bloated budget.

On 9/11, the Islamofascist terrorists won. What else can you call getting the world's most powerful empire to tear itself to bits, to sacrifice the freedom it claims to prize, to pour tens of trillions of dollars into a pit, to bring about the obliteration of stable governance across an entire region of the world?

No, the islamofascists won, and the US establishment happily cooperated with them.

@fox_news The U.S. trained and equipped islamofascists to fight against the Soviet Union. The U.S. prefers islamofascist theocracy to communism.

@jwinnie @fox_news Not exactly surprising when you consider that one of the two major political parties would rather have Christofascism than anything resembling a representative government.

If I stretch, I can entertain the notion that the party of Lincoln had more to it than 'eat the poor, especially the minorites' even after election season in 1876? But it was pretty clearly a decaying corpse by the time I had any political awareness as a kid, at all.

@Verdigris @fox_news The Republican party went from being the radical leftist party to the small government minarchist party to the fascist oligarchy we see today. 馃榾
