I repeat: Google AMP can Get In The Sea. It’s the wrong solution to every problem it claims to solve.
Ugh. Google AMP is now “improving the performance of mobile content and advertising” by jamming ads *into* photos.

I'm still confused by how there's somehow people who think the best way to 'accelerate mobile pages' isn't to cut down on heavy ads and the metric ton of JS libraries that usually plague sluggish pages. Hell, this is more or less what AMP does, only you don't need it for that at all. And on top of that AMP pages suck from a usability viewpoint. The few times I somehow stumbled unto a AMP page it just made me seek out the desktop page instead.
It's an infestation, nothing more.

With AMP, Google is charging rent on internet content delivery systems just like net neutrality violators. Fuck ‘em.
