I have been told that AppImage is the new hotness for Linux Apps.
I have been able to download and run AppImages.
What I can’t find?

HOW DO INSTALL THE DAMN TOOLS TO BUILD MY OWN APPIMAGES?

A bright, shiny penny for anyone who can point me at the page of docs.

The docs for AppImage tells me, at length, a dozen different tools and approaches for building my AppImage.

NOT ONE OF THOSE SETS OF INSTRUCTIONS DESCRIBE HOW TO INSTALL THE TOOLS.

Call me naïve, but this seems like a glaring oversight.

@freakboy3742 The low-level tool is appimagetool¹, it assumes that you already have an “AppDir”. It is available as an AppImage.

A higher level tool is linuxdeploy², you give it an executable, an icon and an .desktop-file and it builds an AppImage. The installation instructions are in the readme.

There is also a Packaging Guide³ with more information and links to all mentioned tools.
