Well now, didn't that just come out beautifully or what?! Without any supports even.
@fribbledom
Whaaaaat... That's so cool!
@fribbledom Thought that was dual color for a moment.
Nah, that's just two differently colored light sources close to it. I think it almost looks brownish on the photo, but it's actually black filament.
@fribbledom I could tell it was black.
@fribbledom that's the best phone stand i've ever seen
@fribbledom
I remember you were asking about 3d design software not so long ago, did you designed AND printed it by yourself? Because that's rad. I always had a mild interest for 3d printing but it's getting worse ♥️
Oh, how I wish I were that good at designing things 😂
No, that's straight from thingiverse, you can find it here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:607518
@fribbledom
A... library for... things.
I am not crying.
@fribbledom do you really want to give Cthulhu access to an Internet-capable device? 😏
@fribbledom Looking great! The layers seems to be quite thick, though. Did you print it with "draft" settings and how long did it take?
Have you ever tried sanding your prints (I want to try soon)? :)
I think it actually comes across a lot rougher on the closeup photo (just look at the phone's button for reference) than it looks in reality.
But you're right, this is far from the highest resolution I could go: 0.2mm layer height, as a compromise to gain some speed. I wasn't quite sure if it prints fine without supports and didn't have the patience to wait it out 😂
@fribbledom Yes, I know the struggle. :D The wonderful smoothness of <0.1mm vs. wanting to have it NOW + being afraid a long print might go wrong...
Oh, and yes, I do sand the rough edges, but that's it really. I actually quite like the look of 3D printed objects. If I'd want it smoother, I'd probably finish it with some glossy coating.
@chr I wonder if there's a dragon version of this somewhere?
@ddipaola oh geez i don’t need more temptation to get a 3d printer. dont even have room in my apartment for a 2d printer
@fribbledom thsi is very cool!
