Remember how Trump ordered the National Security Council's entire global health security unit (including a renowned pandemics expert team) to be shut down in May 2018?

Trump: "I'm a business person, I don't like having thousands of people around when you don't need them. When we need them, we can get them back very quickly."

Well, as it turns out, the administration cannot actually reassemble such a team "very quickly".

@fribbledom Sure it can't, this doesn't work like that. And this whole idea of getting all the services "on-demand" is just a dream of the uninformed "business persons".

@fribbledom With his kind of reasoning you might as well get rid of the fire-brigade.

@fribbledom It seems the US will have a really big corona catastrophe. Absolute incompetence of the leaders and abyssmal health care system.
The silverlining is, that corona affects those usually in power (old men) the most.
Black girls belong to the group least affected. There is a chance for humankind here.

@funnypanja @fribbledom Agreed. But it seems that Black girls are much more likely to survive a corona infection, even without healthcare. And old men are very susceptible to corona and may succumb despite quality healthcare.

@funnypanja @fribbledom A risk is also travelling and exposure to many people. Due to the average economic status of white people, and white men in particular as compared to non-white people, they can afford more travelling on average, thus have more risk of contracting the virus.

@funnypanja @fribbledom True. But the other points I made are still valid.

@funnypanja @fribbledom Younger people being less at risk for fatal outcome off corona.

@carl @funnypanja @fribbledom You're right in a sense that young people, black or otherwise, are likely to easily survive the COVID-19, maybe even without symptoms or slight symptoms. But there are old black folks too, and other minority groups that are at high risk.

@fribbledom
in the press conference he had yesterday a reporter asked him about that and he said "I think that's a nasty question" lmao

@georgia

I'm sure it's a nasty one to respond to 😄

But then he just proceeds ignoring it and everyone's like "well, he's always been a dork, whatcha gonna do, eh?"... 🙄

@fribbledom the amount of dumbfuckery concentrated in that single person is staggering.

a cynical silver lining is that more and more people around him (at his mar-a-lago, too) test positive, and he seems hell-bent on making a show out of how much he’s still shaking everybody’s hands.

@fribbledom and this is another reminder why business is not the same as being actually responsible for a whole country of people. If your only goal is to maximize profit you should really just stay a business person.

(That's not even mentioning the sheer incompetence of that particular person even at business.)
