"Beginning December 15, 2020 the Yahoo Groups website will shut down and members will no longer be able to send or receive emails from Yahoo Groups."
Yahoo doing Yahoo things.
@fribbledom looks more like Yahoo doing Google things ;-)

@fribbledom The end of an era.
@fribbledom groups.io had a huge influx earlier this year as a result, it was only a matter of time before they stopped making money on mailing lists
@fribbledom this is the most Yahoo thing to do.
@fribbledom Is there any easy open-source option out there? One that a non-techie could handle?
@fribbledom Makes me wonder why they went through the recent "we're going to disable the website, you'll only be able to use email" phase if they were just going to scuttle the whole thing. Maybe to push people off the platform in phases?
All it did for me was make me decide I should unsubscribe from all those dead groups I was subscribed to.
@fribbledom didn’t they pull this like a year ago? And there was the whole save yahoo groups archive project?
@fribbledom Y! Groups regardless of how the company has turned it into, will remain a special place in memory for some LUGs (Linux User Groups) that were primarily comprised of "users" who didn't go the gnu mailman route, whether it be for infra resources or for want of tech know how.
@fribbledom They e-mailed me this, and for the life of me can't think of any time I was ever on a Yahoo group for anything.
