@fribbledom oh wow, that time of the year again! i remember asking about the 2019 results during the 2020 edition πŸ˜…

@fribbledom My guess is it will end in a grudge match between Go and Rust. Rust will win.

@fribbledom Which one won last year, already ? Was it Go ?

@AugierLe42e @fribbledom Lua's position is rather good this time around. I'm pretty sure it will beat COBOL and perhaps Kotlin as well. I'm less optimistic about beating Go.

@fribbledom C vs Elixir right at the start oO

Sparks are gonna fly on the fedi x)

@fribbledom The winner will then proceed to take on the end boss, Visual Basic.

We miss Ada. C++ should stay in long-term.

@fribbledom looks like a lot will depend on where each language starts from in the bracket, maybe next year you could make a group phase or sth

I'm looking forward to see what wins, as I've been thinking of learning modern programming but got hung up on which language would be best. Currently looking into some of the ones already mentioned, as I wasn't aware of their existence.

Folx ITT: "Oh, this language with all these fancy bells and whistles..."
Me: "There are languages besides C and assembly? GET OFF MY LAWN AND TURN DOWN THAT ROCK MUSIC!"

@fribbledom I don't know enough about programming languages to participate. Sounds fun though!

@fribbledom May I ask, did you choose the opponents in each battle or was it random? Because, Javascript VS PHP, the only 2 languages i know battling at the first stage, ...

I'd prefer it was all random.

Are you going to post an updated bracket when the first round is over?
