My girlfriend: Do you know what "Node.js: Server-side JavaScript" is?

Me: Yeah, why are you asking?

Her: Is it a virus?

Me: Weeeell... 😆

(turns out Adobe Cloud is now running two node processes on her Windows machine)

@fribbledom Well, depending on how you look at it, it's not *not* a virus.

@fribbledom

Is it running a server on her machine?

Cause that sounds awful, and I would call that malware.

@fribbledom oh not in itself but when you add Adobe to the mix...

I guess they'll keep up their reputation one way or another.

@fribbledom Unix is the ultimate virus, but JavaScript IMHO ranked #2.

@fribbledom Adobe uses Node running in an embedded Chromium as their plugin framework. At least that's how it works in Premiere and After Effects.

I did a proof-of-concept plugin in this at one point when that generation of their plugin system was in beta, which was interesting, especially considering it was my first and last professional "web dev" experience.
