zigbee2mqtt has re-implemented the serial protocol of the ConBee stick, so you can actually use this device without relying on proprietary software.

Was hoping to run my own ZigBee gateway with the help of a ConBee stick, but as it turns out they only use open-source as a marketing / PR stunt 🥺

Back to Amazon then... what hardware are you peeps using for your homebrew ZigBee gateway?

From a user's perspective the DSM (Synology DiskStation Manager) is thoroughly good:

unplug old disk, insert new disk, click two buttons, drink a cup of tea.

TFW you rip out a perfectly fine hard drive from a live & running RAID array just to replace it with a slightly bigger disk... everything about it feels so wrong 😄

Gotta say, for $20 you probably won't find a cheaper or more readily available device that's able to run Kodi.
