@danie10 Many reasons, but primarily VC money driven profit hunts. Lock-in is more profitable in the short run and if you are very, very lucky you'll make it big. And VC likes those odds. Also: not invented here syndrome; can be hard for a new party to get an entrenched community to move on new features or changes; etc.
